FAQs About Physiotherapy Direct Billing in Cambridge
How do you direct bill on my extended health benefits?
With your permission, Cambridge Physiotherapy submits your claim using an online portal for the services you receive. You provide your insurance policy number and member ID. Your Portal gives us an idea of the amount your plan covers.
How much do I need to pay?
You don’t pay anything if your insurance covers 100% of your costs. If your insurance covers 80% of the visit, you pay the balance, the other 20%.
What treatments can be directly billed?
All physiotherapy and massage services.
Is a doctor’s referral needed for physiotherapy or massage therapy?
In Ontario, you have direct access to physiotherapy and massage services without a referral from a doctor. However, very few insurance policies require a referral, so we check your coverage before your visit. If your insurer requires a referral, you have one month to submit that referral so you can get physiotherapy and massage therapy immediately.
What if I have coverage under more than one insurance plan? Do you coordinate benefits?
We first submit fees to your primary insurance. Once the primary insurance has paid, we try making a further submission to your secondary insurance. Only a few insurers allow secondary coordination of benefits through direct billing. You may need to pay the balance left after your primary insurance pays and submit a receipt to your secondary insurance policy.
Can I get a receipt?
Yes. You get a receipt automatically for any portion you pay to the clinic. For direct billing, you can get a copy of the statement submitted to the Portal.
What happens if my insurance company doesn’t process my bill?
Simply pay us and get reimbursed by your insurance company. We accept e-transfer, Visa, MasterCard, Debit or cash. You will get a receipt to submit to your insurance company.
How do you bill motor vehicle accident physiotherapy services?
We direct bill for MVA patients. We are required to follow FSCO guidelines. Your private benefits are billed prior to your car insurance company. We use the HCAI portal to direct bill to your car insurance company, so you don’t have to worry about paying out of pocket. Simply provide us with your insurance details and pink slip for direct billing.
How do you bill WSIB for work-related injuries?
Work-related injuries are covered under WSIB for physiotherapy in Cambridge. We direct bill to the Workplace Safety Insurance Board. Before booking your appointment with us, report your injury to your employer and submit the appropriate paperwork to the WSIB.
